Some of the most common problems that you will face in
life are people problems. Much of our life revolves around
our relationships, so those problems can have a huge impact
on us. When there has been a breakdown in a relationship,
what is the proper way to resolve the issue?
The Bible gives us some very practical instruction for dealing
with people problems. One especially helpful verse is
Colossians 3:13.
Colossians 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one
another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as
Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
When you find yourself in a strained relationship, there
are two steps you can take to mend it. First, you can forbear.
Just learn to put up with things that may bother you, but
are not sinful. Second, you can forgive. If someone does
something wrong to you, you should be willing to forgive
that wrong even before they ask for forgiveness. And when
you do forgive, don’t hang on to the memory of that offense.
We should treat others like this because it is how God treats
us.
God took the initiative to heal our broken relationship with
Him. He sent Jesus to die for our sins, and when we trust Him,
we are forgiven. Since God did that for us, we should do the
same for others.
