We have a great opportunity to be a blessing to a church that has been affected by the recent flooding in Texas. The church is Faith Baptist Church in Bacliff, Texas. Their whole property was flooded, including their main building, a parsonage, and a storage shed. They could not afford flood insurance, therefore they are going to have to pay for the necessary repairs on their own.
I spoke with the pastor today, whom I have never met before, and asked if we could take up a love offering to be a blessing to them. He was literally moved to tears. This church needs our help! Our brothers and sisters there are struggling and are tempted to be discouraged. We have a chance to be a real blessing to this church and help them as they rebuild and continue the work of sharing the gospel in their community.
1 John 3:17 says, “But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” So for the next two Sundays (9/3 & 9/10) we will take up a special offering to help them pay for the necessary repairs on their buildings. I encourage you each to give sacrificially, even beyond what you think you can “afford,” in order to be a blessing to them.
